work, physician assistant studies, creative
writing and music therapy. The college

Also with a spot on that list is the
University of St. Thomas ( www.stthomas.
edu), where there are 10,221 students
attending class at either the Minneapolis
or St. Paul campuses. This Catholic
comprehensive university was founded in
1885 and is the largest private university
in Minnesota. Students choose from more
than 90 majors and can enroll in more
than 60 different degree programs at the
graduate level. Students are encouraged
to study abroad, and more than half do so,
as the school offers 150 to 160 programs in
more than 45 countries.
The Mississippi River divides the
University of Minnesota Twin Cities
campus ( www.umn.edu). The East Bank
holds the main campus and covers 307
acres. A city within a city, the school
has its own Central Park in Northrop
Mall. A place where students can rest
between classes, the newly renovated
Northrop Auditorium caps the mall on
one end, while Coffman Memorial Union
